Why don't I get Qiscus Omnichannel Chat desktop notifications?
Answer:
Sometimes, no alerts and sounds appear even though you have enabled the Desktop Notifications feature via the Settings menu on the Omnichannel Chat dashboard. This is because the Notification Permission on the browser you are using has not been turned on.
So, to ensure you get notifications on the Qiscus Omnichannel Chat desktop, you must allow notifications in the browser you use. This permission usually appears in the upper right corner after you log in.
What if the notification permission pop-up doesn't appear?
Answer:
You might have muted or turned off notifications for Qiscus Omnichannel Chat in your browser settings. So, you have to unblock the notification permission. However, each browser has a different way to unblock notification permission.
We will provide an example of how to unblock notification permission from 3 different browsers, Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, and also Mozilla Firefox.
Google Chrome:
In your browser, open the Qiscus Omnichannel Chat dashboard. Click the lock icon on the top banner, and enable the notification toggle.
You can also unblock notification permission by clicking the More icon → Settings → Privacy and security → Site settings → Notifications. If omnichannel.qiscus.com is under Not allowed to send notifications, click the dropdown then select Allow.
Once you change the settings, reload the Qiscus Omnichannel Chat dashboard page. There are 2 possible behaviors:
- If you use Google Chrome’s standard mode, a permission notification pop-up will appear with the option Allow or Block. A desktop notification for Qiscus Omnichannel Chat will appear if you select Allow. However, if you do not select one, the notification will be automatically blocked.
- If you use Google Chrome's Incognito mode, desktop notifications are automatically blocked.
Microsoft Edge:
In your browser, open the Qiscus Omnichannel Chat dashboard. Click the lock icon on the top banner, and change the Notifications to Allow.
You can also unblock notification permission by clicking the More icon → Settings → Cookies and site permissions → Notifications. If omnichannel.qiscus.com is under Block, click the More icon and then select Allow.
Once you change the settings, reload the Qiscus Omnichannel Chat dashboard page. There are 2 possible behaviors:
- If you use Microsoft Edge’s standard mode, by default the Notification Permission will change to Ask.
- If you use Microsoft Edge's Incognito mode, desktop notifications are automatically blocked.
Mozilla Firefox:
In your browser, click the More icon → Settings → Privacy & Security → Permissions → Notifications → Settings. If the status for omnichannel.qiscus.com is Block, click the dropdown then select Allow.
